de is a new online scholarly, refereed journal dedicated to presenting ideas and issues in design education.

de will provide design educators and others interested in design education with an outlet for written and visual presentations of qualitative, creative, material, technological, and aesthetic content.

Each quarter de will publish lively written and visual pieces that encourage discussion, debate, laughter, and a continuing belief in the virtues of design education.

Each issue of de will include:

1. Viewpoint:  the thoughts of an invited design educator on a selected subject.

2. Written and visual work, including articles, essays, poetry, photography, drawings, and other visual media.

3. Announcements concerning events at design programs around the state, region, nation.

de is committed to celebrating design education and to the idea that design is a kind of activity unto itself.  neither art nor science, design is a clearly distinct kind of activity, with distinct obligations and outcomes that impact human life.
